Narrowing down the best beachfront restaurants in a certain location is not easy given that there are a number of top-rated restaurants in an area and everyone has different preferences. San Diego, a beautiful city on the coast of the Pacific Ocean known for its mild year-round climate and the 70-mile coastline, has a variety of restaurants oozing with good food, great company, and stunning views! A true San Diegan will more likely be attracted on not just the treat for their mouths but also the treats for their eyes. Fortunately, there are plenty to choose from in the city! It offers a long list of scenic restaurants located within eyeshot of the long sandy beaches to the rolling hills, without a doubt, San Diego is as beautiful as can be.

Here are some of the top-rated scenic restaurants in the city. Relish the picturesque view while enjoying a nice meal as you get a few laughs with friends and family.

Anthony’s Fish Grotto

This is one those establishment that has been here for a long time and also one of my favorites. Anthony’s Fish Grotto opened in 1946 and was known as San Diego’s original seafood restaurant with a wide array of seafood complimented by chicken or beef served to you by a friendly staff.  The building is built over the water of San Diego Bay and it offers diners some of the best views in the city. This delightful restaurant is a great spot for locals and tourist to get heavenly food and awesome view!


Island Prime / C Level Lounge

Island Prime is stilt-supported located on the edge of Harbor Island. The breezy atmosphere and upscale lounge offer a delightful collection of steaks and seafood.Chef Deborah Scott’s eclectic style features a creative, sophisticated and gluten-free menu. Top it off with the panoramic view of the of the San Diego skyline and the Coronado Bridge. Island Prime is sure to please.

La Jolla


The Marine Room

The Marine Room is a beautiful place and also one my favorites. It is most popular because of its location which is so close to the water where the view only gets better during high tide. Executive Chef Bernard Guillas and Chef de Cuisine Ron Oliver craft a rare mix of unique, global flavors that is about to make you feel the glory of good food. Join the San Diego Restaurant Week on September 25 – October 2, 2016 as they continue with a three-course menu featuring Sunflower Dukkah Diver Scallops and Coffee Stout Braised Beef Cheeks. Reservations are recommended.


George’s at the Cove

Located at Prospect Street in La Jolla overlooking the blue Pacific, George’s at the Cove includes three dining areas: California Modern on the bottom floor, George’s Bar in the middle, and Ocean Terrace on the roof. Chef Trey Foshee’s popular fresh fish tacos to salads, sandwiches, pasta, seafood and more is a must try.


Brockton Villa 

Operating since 1894, Brockton Villa Restaurant is housed in one of La Jolla’s original beach cottages and eventually turned into a restaurant. The seaside location offers a spectacular view of the La Jolla Cove. Chef Mareyja Sisbarro creates menus breakfast thru dinner with some seasonal menu changes.

Del Mar


Pacifica Del Mar 

Famous for the stunning panoramic views of the ocean, the sunset, a lively bar scene, award-winning wine list, and their affordable happy hour promos. Pacifica Del Mar is also one of my personal favorites and mostly enjoy really fine wines on their happy hour with my Thursday night pals.   Their varied menu can go with whatever suits your mood. From meat, seafood, pasta, salads, and soups.  Pacifica Del Mar is one top of the line restaurant in San Diego.

Jake’s Del Mar

Jake’s Del Mar is not just another restaurant by the beach. Opens daily and offer a large selection of gluten-free cuisines for lunch, happy hour, dinner, and Sunday brunch.  Chef Duvinh Ta uses seasonal products in preparing fresh fish, shellfish, and meat. Choose from seafood dishes, seafood Caesar salad, mustard and spice California lamb, Jake’s Bistro burger, or vegetarian options and take care of your sweet tooth with their dessert then have a feast with their collection of wine, cocktails and beer.

Poseidon on the Beach

Poseidon on the Beach offers a wide selection of fresh seafood, meat, and pasta, not to mention, good quality service by the friendly staff. This beachfront restaurant with a patio right on the sand offers mouthwatering food and a variety of beers that . Executive Chef Mourad Jamal and his team of chefs work hard to create a food-centric masterpiece to serve you. 




Pacific Coast Grill

Pacific Coast Grill’s waterfront location makes it one of the go-to spots in North County. The new two-story restaurant with patios that gives off a relaxing vibe. With the sand and the ocean breezes in front of you, there can be nowhere you’d rather be. The restaurant offers a gluten-free menu and is made with fresh and free range ingredients. Their seafood-centric cuisine is favorable to all and perfect for gatherings. You may contact PCG for a private party between the indoor Reef Room and a patio buyout.

Chart House

Chart House, a beachfront restaurant located in Cardiff, was tagged as one of the best seafood restaurants in Cardiff. The beautiful panoramic view of the ocean welcomes guest while they dine as Chart House serves the best steak and seafood Cardiff has to offer. Do not forget to try the famous Chart House specialties like Mac Nut Mahi, Savory Shrimp Scampi, Scallops Italia, or happy hour specials in the lounge.

Ki’s Restaurant

Located just across the street of the Pacific ocean, Ki’s offers incredible  panoramic views different from all others. Lagoon on one side while the ocean and coastline on the other. Restaurant staff is warm and friendly. Homestyle meals for the whole family made with organic ingredients served in a 2-story house with ocean view. The Ki’s Restaurant has recently been renovated to include the sushi station which is available from Wednesday to Saturday evenings.

Right across the street from South Carlsbad State Beach, Chandler’s Restaurant and Lounge offers upscale coastal cuisine that is expertly crafted with fresh, farm-to-table ingredients.
