10 Things to Love About Encinitas
We all know that Encinitas is a beach City and known as one of the largest single industry growing ornamental flowers, particularly poinsettias. Encinitas is more than just a beach city, it’s not limited to the surfers, beach bodies, and tourists. There is a place for everyone in Encinitas who loves to live their life to the fullest, who wants to be physically fit, arts, adventure and the list can go on, basically there’s a place for everyone in Encinitas.
One thing I love about this place is the number of things that you can do and not to mention the rich history surrounding Encinitas. Sometimes, knowing the place and bit of history of a place will help you decide if this is truly the place for you to live and start your family.
If you have been following some of my blogs, you’d probably know that I will be including bits and pieces of history in this one. Like what I always say… I’ll keep it short and interesting, I promise you’ll learn something or at least I learned something.
Encinitas is a Spanish name for “little oaks” and divided into 5 distinct communities.
- Old Encinitas – This is where the Encinitas Welcome arch is located, the famous SURF BREAK Swamis and the La Paloma Theater is located here as well.
- New Encinitas: This is a newer region where the golf course and a lot of shopping centers can be found.
- Olivenhain: Is the semi-rural region in eastern Encinitas. This is where several private equestrian facilities are located.
- Leucadia: The coastal community of the city. The community features art galleries and unusual stores and Beacons and Grand view Beach can be found here.
- Cardiff-by-the-Sea – Encinitas: This is the southernmost oceanfront community. The streets were named after the British Cities and Classical Composers. The Lux Art Institute and the San Elijo Campus of Mira Costa College located here as well.

1. Golf Course
Encinitas Ranch is one of the few golf courses that is located on a magnificent sweep of bluffs that keep the ocean in sight from all over the golf course. There are only a few other courses in San Diego that offer a setting remotely close to the picturesque scene experienced at Encinitas Ranch.The coastal setting, which gets credit for this Encinitas golf course never having a frost delay, is only a short part of the story at Encinitas Ranch. Find the best water sports that you will enjoy, take classes and be a pro in your chosen water sports. There are a lot of schools that offers classes and learn from the pros.

4. Sal Elijo Lagoon Ecological Reserve
