In 1956 over a casual dinner, the concept of Indian Wells Country Club was first discussed. The original founders, Desi Arnaz, envisioned a private country club surrounded by houses for their celebrity friends to come down from Hollywood to relax “resort style.” In 1998 a deal was struck giving Indian Wells Country Club the land it needed to expand to 36 holes. Now the back nine of the Cove Course, this site had been an overnight resting point for Native Indians who traveled through the area during the late 1700’s. During construction, the remains of an isolated burial site were uncovered. Playing golf at Indian Wells Country Club is more than just playing a beautiful challenging course. It is playing a course filled with a storied history, a tradition of excellence and prestige.
